چکیده

With the emergence of Internet, it is now possible to connect and access sources of information and databases throughout the world. At the same time, this raises many questions regarding the privacy and the security of the data, in particular how to mine useful information while preserving the privacy of sensible and confidential data. Privacy-preserving data mining is a relatively new but rapidly growing field that studies how data mining algorithms affect the privacy of data and tries to find and analyze new algorithms that preserve this privacy. At first glance, it may seem that data mining and privacy have orthogonal goals, the first one being concerned with the discovery of useful knowledge from data whereas the second is concerned with the protection of data’s privacy. Historically, the interactions between privacy and data mining have been questioned and studied since more than a decade ago, but the name of the domain itself was coined more recently by two seminal papers attacking the subject from two very different perspectives (Agrawal & Srikant, 2000; Lindell & Pinkas, 2000). The first paper (Agrawal & Srikant, 2000) takes the approach of randomizing the data through the injection of noise, and then recovers from it by applying a reconstruction algorithm before a learning task (the induction of a decision tree) is carried out on the reconstructed dataset. The second paper (Lindell & Pinkas, 2000) adopts a cryptographic view of Esma Aïmeur Université de Montréal, Canada

Introducing an algorithm for use to hide sensitive association rules through perturb technique

Due to the rapid growth of data mining technology, obtaining private data on users through this technology becomes easier. Association Rules Mining is one of the data mining techniques to extract useful patterns in the form of association rules. One of the main problems in applying this technique on databases is the disclosure of sensitive data by endangering security and privacy. Hiding the as...

Privacy Preserving Data Mining

There is a tremendous increase in the research of data mining. Data mining is the process of extraction of data from large database. Knowledge Discovery in database (KDD) is another name of data mining. Privacy protection has become a necessary requirement in many data mining applications due to emerging privacy legislation and regulations. One of the most important topics in research community...

Privacy-Preserving Data Mining: Development and Directions

This article first describes the privacy concerns that arise due to data mining, especially for national security applications. Then we discuss privacy-preserving data mining. In particular, we view the privacy problem as a form of inference problem and introduce the notion of privacy constraints. We also describe an approach for privacy constraint processing and discuss its relationship to pri...

Survey on Privacy Preserving Data Mining

Data mining is the process of extraction of data from large database. One of the most important topics in research community is Privacy preserving data mining (PPDM). Privacy preserving data mining has become increasingly popular because it allows sharing of privacy sensitive data for analysis purposes. It is essential to maintain a ratio between privacy protection and knowledge discovery. To s...

A Noise Addition Scheme in Decision Tree for Privacy Preserving Data Mining

Data mining deals with automatic extraction of previously unknown patterns from large amounts of data. Organizations all over the world handle large amounts of data and are dependent on mining gigantic data sets for expansion of their enterprises. These data sets typically contain sensitive individual information, which consequently get exposed to the other parties. Though we cannot deny the be...

Privacy Preserving Association Rule in Data Mining

Privacy is an important issue in Data mining. The privacy field has seen speedy advances in current years because ability to store data has increased. Precisely, current advances in the data mining field have led to increased concerns about privacy. Privacy-preserving data mining has been studied extensively, because of the wide proliferation of sensitive information on the internet. . Many met...
